Annual Mardi Gras Bead Drive for Augusta Evans

St. Paul’s Community Service department continued their annual tradition of collecting Mardi Gras beads for Augusta Evans School for special needs students.  From February 26th-March 6th, collection boxes were placed in all campus offices for families to bring in beads and throws caught at parades.  After sorting out broken beads (for art class projects) and other throws (for the fifth-grade nursing home parade next year), the remaining beads were boxed for delivery by 8th graders.  As part of their work training program, older students at Evans will sort and repackage the beads to sell to Mardi Gras organizations next year to support the school’s mission.
